Ceremony
Sergeant-at-Arms: "Hear ye! Hear ye! Hear ye! This ceremony will now come to order!
[pause for quiet]
Sergeant-at-Arms: "All rise!"
Master/Mistress of Ceremony: "Please join me in singing the Star Spangled Banner"
All: [Sing The Star Spangled Banner]
Master/Mistress of Ceremony: "Please join me in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance"
All: [Recite Pledge of Allegiance]
Sergeant-at-Arms: "Please be seated."
[pause for quiet]
Master/Mistress of Ceremony to Sergeant-at-Arms: "Who calls this ceremony and for what purpose?"
Sergeant-at-Arms: "[substitute title & name of Witness] calls this ceremony to administer and witness the Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, to be taken by those here present." [Go on to give short background of Witness]
Master/Mistress of Ceremony to Witness: "[Witness name], do you avow that you have faithfully sworn an Oath of Allegiance to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic?
Witness: "I do."
Master/Mistress of Ceremony to Audience: "Those who come before this Ceremonial Committee to swear this Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution of the United States, please rise."
[Witness moves to front and center]
Witness: "Please raise your right hand and repeat after me:"
[Ceremonial Committee members raise right hands and pause]:
Witness: "'I, state your full name [pause for Audience],
do solemnly swear [pause for Audience],
that I will support and defend [pause for Audience],
the Constitution of the United States of America [pause for Audience],
against all enemies, foreign and domestic [pause for Audience],
that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same [pause for Audience],
that I take this obligation freely [pause for Audience],
without any mental reservation [pause for Audience],
or purpose of evasion [pause for Audience],
So help me God.'" [pause for Audience].
[Ceremony Committee member lower right hands]
[Master/Mistress of Ceremony moves to front and center]
Master/Mistress of Ceremony: "In making this solemn oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, you bind yourself to and honor the sacrifices of our Founding Fathers and of all other Patriots, sacrifices made in both blood and treasure and made to grant each of us Liberty and Rule of Law.
And, by making this oath you also unite with dozens of millions of fellow Americans now enjoined in the greatest struggle against tyranny in our lifetime, so that our posterity may know peace.
Go forth now and fulfill you oaths until Liberty is once again proclaimed throughout this great land! And may ..."
[sing God Bless America]
